Little Wishes sends a heartfelt thank you to all of our generous supporters.  Because of you, Little Wishes continues to grow and has been able to grant over 3000 wishes to date!

As you can see by the smiles of our featured little wish recipients, the granting of a modest wish can greatly ease a child’s pain and fear while being hospitalized.

 

Your donation has helped bring comfort and laughter to children like threeyear- old Miabella and six-year-old Dominic, both hospitalized for treatment of leukemia. Miabella warmly hugged and kissed her wish of a new stuffed pony, and Dominic happily danced on top of his hospital bed with his wish of a giant stuffed snake.

 

These children’s hospital treatments are often rigorous, painful, and sometimes the effects can be long lasting, both physically and mentally.  A hospital’s Little Wishes Coordinator brightens a long hospital stay when entering a child’s room and asking the child (and /or parent) what brings them the most joy and what they feel passionate about.  Six-year-old Michele, who is often hospitalized and confined to her room for treatment of her cystic fibrosis, beamed ecstatically to be able to wish for fairy princess things, movies and Barbie dolls to add to her collection.  The granting of her wish resulted in hours of fantasy play that brought much needed distraction to her long, three-week hospitalization.  Ultimately, for children like Michele, the granting of a little wish lifts and improves their spirits and outlook during their entire hospitalization.

 

All little wishes take place in the hospital with the purpose of bringing comfort and diversion.  The mom of 18-month old  Benoit, was relieved and thrilled to see her son, who is being treated for his cancer, so amused playing with his new learning toys while receiving his chemotherapy. Benoit comes in every three weeks for treatment of his neuroblastoma and mom can count on Little Wishes supplying a new assortment of toys to help distract him with each hospitalization.

 

What makes Little Wishes program so unique is that qualified children may make another wish every fourteen days after receiving their first little wish.  This gives a childlike 10-year-old Riley, who is being treated for cancer, a positive event to look forward to.  Riley is known to carry a catalogue around the hospital hallways with circled items anticipating her next wish when she returns for her recurring chemotherapy treatment.

 

The smile of Justin, just as big as Sponge Bob’s, is evidence of why Little Wishes is such a popular program in the medical community.  We are proud to announce that we are in the beginning stages of introducing our program to our first "out of state" hospital, Sacred Heart Children's Hospital in Spokane, Washington!

 

If you know of anyone who would like to be part of our wish making team, please pass this letter on to them and share that 100% of their donation will go directly to fund wishes of children like two-year-old, Dakota, often hospitalized with cystic fibrosis and 16-year-old Kyle, battling leukemia (pictured with his sisters).

 

In addition, because of your continued support, Millie, a treasured therapy dog, continues to help deliver hundreds of wishes to children’s hospital beds in Sacramento.
