For more than 18 years, nonprofit organization Little Wishes has granted wishes for hospitalized children across the country. Laura Euphrat and Joanne Davantes created the nonprofit in memory of an 8-year-old boy named Josh who expressed how the little things truly matter in such difficult times.

Founded by two pediatric nurses, the nonprofit Little Wishes allows seriously ill, hospitalized children to wish for something that will fill their heart and brighten their darkest days. Each wish provides much needed joy to ease the discomfort of long hospitalizations.

In Josh’s loving memory, Laura Euphrat and Joanne Davantes founded a nonprofit organization called Little Wishes, which serves hospitalized children creating wholesome distractions. These children are invited to make one wish followed by another every two weeks. Repetitious wish granting provides a distraction from treatments and eases discomfort.

Child life specialists waving sparkly star wands followed, along with nurses Sarah Sisk, RN, and Little Wishes president Laura Euphrat, RN. The group was there to joyfully grant the little wish of a guitar to sweet and spunky 6-year-old Avalynn, an acute myeloid leukemia patient at our Bass Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Diseases.
